Workshops | Late Fall

KB Studio offers half- and full-day fine art workshops for adult students interested exploring new materials, methods, and subjects. These workshops are for students of all levels and include professional art materials, technical instruction, and a supportive group environment. Below you will find a few examples of workshops offered in 2018. Look for our 2019 Workshop schedule in the new year.

Creative Minds & Idea Finding

In this seminar, participants will create a personalized action plan for finding resonant, contemporary ideas to pursue in their art practices. While working in sketchbooks, students will explore their personal backgrounds, art historical references, and current topical issues in a series of exercises designed to foster creative thinking and visual risk-taking. This seminar is open to students of all levels. Sketchbooks and art materials will be provided.

Black & White

The expressive power of black ink on white paper will be explored fully through a wide range of traditional and contemporary ink drawing techniques. Focusing on subject matter of personal interest, students will develop their drawings using reed, quill, and commercial ink pens. Professional art materials, demonstrations, and individualized instruction are included. Students of all levels are welcome.

Pen & Ink with Watercolor

Participants will explore the lively intersection between pen and ink drawing and watercolor painting. Working with a variety of nature subjects, pen and ink drawings will be created and accented with colorful washes. Students will also develop expressive wet-on-wet watercolor landscape backgrounds to be highlighted with black and white ink for linear interest. A broad range of drawing and painting tools and techniques will be demonstrated and investigated. This workshop is open to students of all levels and all materials are included.
