Students will pursue independent water-based (ink, watercolor, gouache, and/or acrylic) painting projects while building traditional and contemporary technical and conceptual skills. Meaningful ideas and subjects will be explored using a variety of painting materials, surfaces, and processes. Focus will be placed on the development of personal approaches that support and expand creative practices. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and shelter in place directive, this course will be taught through online instruction via one-on-one phone conversations, community sketchbook assignments, and video conferences. When we are able to safely meet again in person, students will have access to their regular class hours as well as expanded studio hours. This course is open to students of all levels.
